# Assign profiles to products

A product uses the first Product Profile found in this order: **chosen on the product → child category → parent category → tag → default profile**.

### By category or tag

In the profile's **Apply to products** box, choose product categories and tags. When several profiles match at the same level, the one with the higher **Priority** wins.

### On one product

Open the product and use the **Product Profile** box (right column). A profile chosen here takes priority over profiles assigned by category or tag. The box also shows which profile the product currently uses.

### Default profile

Tick **Default profile (used when nothing else matches)** on one profile, or set it in **POD Profile → Settings → Default Product Profile**.
