# Introduction to Estimated Delivery

### Why it exists

Print-on-demand orders take longer than in-stock items: they are made first, then shipped. Customers who do not know when their order will arrive hesitate to buy, or write to ask "where is my order?". A clear date on the product page sets the right expectation before they pay.

### How it works

The **Estimated Delivery** box on the product page shows a **Delivery to** country picker and an **Ordered → Shipped → Delivered** timeline with real dates.

The dates are calculated from:

1. **Today**, and whether the order is placed before the daily cutoff time.
2. The **processing time** of the product's Product Profile.
3. The **transit time** of the Shipping Profile that matches the visitor's country.
4. Only **business days** are counted; weekend days are skipped.

The visitor's country is detected automatically and can be changed in the box. The choice is remembered and also updates the Returns & Replacements appendix and the shipping placeholders.

**Needs:** the [POD Profile](/docs/introduction-to-pod-profile/) module, with at least one Product Profile and one Shipping Profile.
